About Creswell Babe Ruth
Our Mission
Creswell Babe Ruth is a youth oriented program dedicated to building solid citizens through competitive participation in the game of baseball. Promoting what is best for our youth has been, and continues to be, the guiding principle of the Babe Ruth Program. Creswell Babe Ruth teaches baseball skills and promotes mental and physical development. Creswell Babe Ruth emphasizes the basic ideals of sportsmanship, fair play, and respect for the rules of the game, players, parents, coaches, and all other participants. It is the fundamental belief of Creswell Babe Ruth that every child who has a desire to play baseball, and who resides in the Creswell or Cottage Grove School District, be afforded that opportunity.
Cal Ripken Division Ages 12 and Under
The Creswell Babe Ruth Cal Ripken division is for players up to the age of twelve years of age. A primary goal of the Babe Ruth League Cal Ripken Division is to keep baseball fun during this early stage of youth baseball.
Tee Ball 5-6 Years Old
Rookie Minor/Major 7-9 Years Old
Double A (AA) 9-10 Years Old
Triple A (AAA) 10-11 Years Old
Major Minor 11-12 Years Old
Majors 11-12 Years Old
Babe Ruth Division Prep Ages 13-15
At age 13 players move from the Cal Ripken division to the Babe Ruth division and play on regulation size fields. (Babe Ruth Division games are played primarily on local high school fields.) Formation of the Prep League was approved by the International Board of Babe Ruth in 1976 as the result of studies showing that young players lose interest in baseball due to lack of playing time. With the Babe Ruth Baseball Prep League, the 13-year-old player now has that chance to play, avoiding the possibility of his losing interest in playing baseball. In addition, it has been found that players have expressed fear of competing with 14 and 15-year-old players who have already experienced one to two years playing on the standard 90-foot diamond.
